Dec 18, 2004
Dear all,
As you might have noticed there are a lot of things happening in the
Amaran camp at the moment. You have read here before that Kari has left
Amaran to concentrate on his new band, Sibliance. In addition to this we
must now inform you that our bass player Ronnie Bergerståhl has also
decided to leave the band. His motivation for this is that he didnt really
share the vision the rest of us had of what musical direction we would
take with our new songs. Having this said, we have also some good news for
you guys: Our original drummer Robin Bergh has decided to join Amaran
again! Johanna and I are very pleased with this since Robin is a really
good friend of us and since Pär, who took Robins position when he quitted,
has moved away from Stockholm (making rehearsal much more difficult).
There are however no personal indifferences between any of us, I guess
things like this can happen to bands every now and then. We send our
appreciations to Kari, Ronnie and Pär for everything they've done for the
band and wish them the best of luck with their future projects!
So, at this very moment we are out looking for a new guitarist and a new
bass player. If you play any of these instruments and think you have what
it takes to join Amaran, dont hesitate to drop a line on
contact@amaran.net
We are now busy writing songs for our third album, which we have planned
to record around May 2005. Personally I believe the new songs have that
classical Amaran vibe, but perhaps somewhat stripped to give Johanna more
space for her voice. Our previous promise to deliver a killer album for
you guys is still going to be kept!!
/ Ronnie Backlund
Nov 23, 2004 I have decided to leave Amaran to devote my energy into my new band Sibliance
I not not leaving Amaran because of any personal indifferences... Amaran has just been working poorly lately which has made me frustrated. I can removed it by stepping down. Furthemore I haven't been satisfied what so ever about the situation with Listenable (I guess that's the bigges issue)...
I wish the Amaran guys all the best and all the best of luck!!! /kari kainulainen
Sep 10, 2004 I'm sorry to say but we have bad news for you. Due to circumstances beyond our control (mainly economical) we are forced to cancel our performance at this years ProgPower and the gig at Loppen (Den). When you put your faith in the hands of other people and when they don't deliver you get 'fucked over' and this is what happened to us. We all looked forward to theses gigs and going out with Katatonia again but as thing's turned out it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to do the gigs. It sucks but we have no other alternative... Once again, sorry for all the inconvenience that this might cause any of you!
We'll concentrate all our enery into the songwriting of the next album which will be recorded next year, it'll be a new killer - That's a promise!!!
Aug 18, 2004 In addition to our gig at Progpower in October we've decided to team up with our friends Katatonia for some shows along the road to the Netherlands. The first gig on this mini tour is already confirmed and will take place in Copenhagen (Denmark) on Wednesday 29th of September. Three additional shows in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands are soon to be announced. Don't miss this out! /Backlund
Aug 17, 2004 Back from the gigs in Finland. It felt like a cool short trip! We even did Katharsis for the first time (at Pellavarock) with the help from Sonny (Komotio) and Tuomas (Before the Dawn) with the "growl" parts :-) It felt really cool to be able to performe it live. A big thanks to them both and of course to Bast Music who helped out with the gigs!!! /kari
Aug 05, 2004 The gig in Oulu on Aug 12 has been cancelled so now we only have 2 dates in Finland. Viitasaari on Aug 13 and Pellavarock on Aug 14. /kari
Jul 28, 2004 I guess it's been a while since we updated the site but here's some news for you. We have added 2 more shows to our trip to Finland (thanks to Bast Music). The new gigs will take place at Oulu - Kuusisaari on Aug 12 and at Viitasaari on Aug 13 and we'll be doing them with the Finnish band Thunderstone. Furthermore we're busy writing new material and hopefully we'll record the new album at the beginning of 2005. We're also negotiating some gigs in Holland/Belgium in conjunction with ProgPower. Stay tuned for more news :-) /kari
May 23, 2004 Just a short update. Our first gig with Pär Hjulström (drums) at the 2000 Decibel festival in Bengtsfors was really great. It went that well that we offered Pär to join Amaran on a permanent basis, which he accepted. So our new drummer is - Pär Hjulström! Hopefully we can upload some pics from the gigs shortly. /kari
Apr 30, 2004 Pär Hjulström (from Athela) will play the drums with us on the upcoming festival gig at 2000 Decibel. /kari
Apr 02, 2004 We're confirmed to play ProgPower festival in Holland on October 02. /kari
Mar 31, 2004 We're confirmed to play the Pellavarock festival in Lammi (Fin) on Aug 14! /kari
Mar 22, 2004 Robin Bergh (drums) is no longer in Amaran. He decided to leave us due to personal reasons. We wish him all the best and thank him very much for his time and effort in Amaran. At the same time we're interested in getting in contact with a new drummer and if you think you got what it takes to be in Amaran, mail us!!!/kari
Mar 08, 2004 We're confirmed to play the 2000 Decibel festival in Bengtsfors (Swe) on May 22! /kari
Mar 01, 2004 We'll be playing at the M.I.N.D festival at Culturen in Västerås, Sweden with the bands: Katatonia, Corporation 187, Mist of Avalon, Septic Breed and Anachronaeon. The event is taking place Saturday, March 13. Be there!!! /kari
Feb 15, 2004 Olle Carlsson has taken some new really cool Amaran pics!!! Check them out!!! /kari
Feb 10, 2004 The album is now available in USA through The End Records. We forgott to give a really BIG THANKS to Esa Orjatsalo from Dreamtale who filled in for Ronnie on both the European and Finland gigs after he broke his arm. Way to go ESA!!! You will be remembered for you efforts!!! Thanks!!! :-) /kari
Feb 09, 2004 We're back from the mini tour in Finland with Katatonia and Before The Dawn. It all went very smoothly and it felt nice to be able to present our music to the Finnish audience. Thanks to all who attended, thanks to both Katatonia and Before The Dawn and a big thanks to Bastmusic!!! We have been received by the word that Metalreviews has chosen our latest album to be the album of the month!!! That's really cool!/kari
Feb 02, 2004 We're back from the tour. It all went really well for us even though Johanna lost her voice for a couple of shows... We have also added some dates to our Scandinavian minitour with Katatonia. The dates are:
Weds, February 18th, Allhuset, Stockholm,Sweden
Sat, February 21st, Pipeline, Sundsvall, Sweden
/kari
Jan 13, 2004 We've added two Norwegian dates to our Scandinavian minitour with Katatonia. The dates are:
Thursday, February 19th @ John Dee, Oslo.
Friday, February 20th @ Byscenen, Trondheim.
In Trondheim there will also be a norwegian band on the bill: Atrox. /ronnie backlund
Jan 12, 2004 Ronnie Backlund has fractured his right arm and will not be able to do the European tour nor the Katatonia gigs in Finland. He will be replaced on these tours by Esa Orjatsalo from the finnish band Dreamtale. A big thanks to him! /kari
Jan 08, 2004 Antother Finland gig has been added: Feb 4 at Klubi in Tampere. This is just an extension of the Katatonia tour. Btw, all these gigs in Finland will be played by the original Amaran line-up. Mikael Andresson (bass) will be back in Amaran for these four gigs. This due to the fact that Ronnie (bass) will be giging with Centinex at the same time. The Centinex gig has been booked a long time ago and they couldn't change it to a different date. /kari
